Hey there. It’s Teri Fisher here with your flash briefing for Monday. And, today I want to talk a little bit about privacy with Alexa.
As you may know, it’s been in the media over the last couple of weeks and probably even a couple months, that there are a certain select number of voice recordings that you say to Alexa that are then reviewed by humans in Amazon, with any identifiable information stripped off of that recording, so they can’t identify you.
But, here’s the thing, there has been some concern about this. And now, if you want to, you have the option to disable that from occurring with your Alexi device. To do that, you just go into your settings.
I want to talk a little bit about privacy with Alexa.
You go to your Alexa app, you click on the hamburger icon (The menu icon), you click on settings, and then you click on Alexa privacy. And then, you’ll see the fifth option is manage how your data improves Alexa.
If you click on that, you have the option to disable that feature. Keep in mind that if you turn that off, the voice recognition and new features may not work as well for you because, well, Alexa can’t learn what you’re saying as well, but you do have the option to disable that if you want to.

1. Open your Alexa app and click on the Menu button > Settings > Flash Briefing.
2. Click on “Add Content” and search for “Voice in Canada”.
3. Click on “Voice in Canada” and the Enable button.
