Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #347

Hey there. I hope you are having a fantastic week. It is Thursday and I’ve got a different type of flash briefing feed today. I want to tell you about a research opportunity. And, you may be interested because they’re actually paying people to be interviewed for this research opportunity.

So let me give you some of the background here very briefly about this, and then I’ll put the links in the website at VoiceinCanada.ca. So I was at a meetup recently, the Vancouver Meetup organized by Sean Griffin, and I met a person by the name of Yelim Kim and she is from the Computer Science Department at the University of British Columbia.

And, she is doing some research, and in particular, she is researching creating a VUI prototyping tool. VUI stands for Voice User Interface. And, what she wants to do is actually recruit two different types of participants to be interviewed for this. She wants to talk to VUI designers and VUI users.

And, basically, a VUI designer is anybody who has published at least one or two projects, and a VUI user is basically you, anyone who has been using the Alexa or Google Home for at least one month. So, if you’re interested, it’s probably going to be about an hour to an hour and a half interview, but they are paying for this.

If you’re interested, it’s probably going to be about an hour to an hour and a half interview, but they are paying for this.

VUI Research Opportunity

I don’t know how much they’re paying, but she just mentioned to me that they are paying for people that want to participate in this. If you are interested in this project, please check out the link at VoiceinCanada.ca, but you can also email Yelim directly, and her email address is yelim27@cs.ubc.ca, and she will be happy to help you out.

Alright, but again, if you just want to check that out, VoiceinCanada.ca. Look for this episode, which is episode number 347, and it’ll have all the information for you there. Also, I’ll have the link to the episode or to the Voice in Canada website through the card that will show up on the Alexa app if you’re listening to this or looking at it on your phone while you’re listening to your flash briefing.

Hope I didn’t confuse you there, but anyway, lots of ways to get in touch with her. Bottom line, go to VoiceinCanada.ca and check for episode 347, and I hope you participate. Okay, take care.
