Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #284
Hey there, it’s Teri here with your flash briefing for Thursday, November 29th. Here’s a little fun thing for the holidays. If you are wondering what to get the technophile; somebody who wants to get the latest in technology. Here is a little announcement that might interest you. There’s a company called Anki. I hope I’m pronouncing that right, and they produce a little smart robot called the Vector.
And I don’t know exactly how to describe what it looks like. It’s got little treads on wheels and it looks almost like a little digger, like one of these, you know, big tractors you’d see at a construction site, but it’s very small. It’s just a couple of inches big. And, it can respond to your voice and that sort of thing. Well, the manufacturers just announced that it will be available for the holidays.
They are integrating Alexa into this little robot. So this little robot now that people are talking to as a toy or as a little artificial intelligent device. It can take commands now through Alexa. And what happens is, they actually have a little preview of this.
So this little robot now that people are talking to as a toy or as a little artificial intelligent device. It can take commands now through Alexa.

If you search on the website, a Vector and Alexa preview, you can see that there are little eyes that are on the screen and when you say the wake word Alexa, the little eyes change to a little blue square, kind of like the blue light ring on an Echo device. And then you can essentially ask it commands or ask it questions that you would normally ask to your Alexa device. And then it responds.
So, I think, as far as I know, this is the first Alexa device that is mobile, because it can move around. It’s a little robot. So if you’re into this sort of thing, and I’m not sure if it’s more of a novelty thing right now, it’s a little toy.
You can, you know, play around with it and get it to come over to you and do various things. But it is a little bit like a toy, but I think the bigger picture here is that Alexa is now integrated into a robot and it’s something that can move around and you can ask it commands.
So just imagine where we’re going in the future with this. I think it’s pretty exciting. So check it out if you want. It’s called the Vector made by Anki. Hope you have a great day and I’ll talk to you tomorrow.
