Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #775

Hey there, Dr. Teri Fisher here with your flash briefing for today.

If you are wondering how you can get Alexa to continue to listen to you so that you can give a second command without actually having to say the wake word again.

This is how you do it, you go into your Alexa app, okay, you click on your hamburger icon or the settings button.

Once you’ve done that, you click on device settings because this setting that we’re talking about is specific to each device.

So you can turn it on or off depending on which device we’re talking about.

You then select the device that you want and when you scroll down, you’ll see an option called follow up mode.

Get Alexa to continue to listen to you so that you can give a second command.

Use Follow-Up Mode

You click on that and then you can turn that on.

And now what that allows you to do is when you give Alexa a command, once she has finished answering that command or doing that action or whatever it is, she will stay essentially awake for a few more seconds and you can give a second command without actually having to say the wake word Alexa again.

So it’s a way that instead of having to say, Alexa do this, Alexa did this, Alexa do this, it’s just simply Alexa, do this and then do this and then do this.

And it’s actually a little more natural and it’s a little more convenient.

So give it a try, hope that’s something that’s useful for you today.

Stay well, take care, talk to you tomorrow.
