Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #47
So today’s flash briefing is probably a little bit overdue because I want to highlight a new product that has Alexa built into it.
And this product was actually released probably about a month ago or so in Canada and that’s Sonos one.
And I know there was a lot of excitement about this when it was released, but basically a lot of people are familiar with Sonos.
Sonos is one of the leading brands in home audio and they’re really known for the quality of the audio.
But the new thing is that the Sonos One which is spelled one spelled out, that smart speaker actually has Alexa built into it now.
So, and that’s available in Canada so now Canadian users of Sonos One can now speak to their speaker, to their Sono speaker and by giving the regular commands like you would normally give to Alexa, you actually have control of Alexa as well.
Canadian users of Sonos One can now speak to their speaker.

So this makes it really easy to control your audio when you want to listen to your audio and if you have other Sono speakers, those ones don’t necessarily have Alexa builtin, but as long as you have one of the Sonos one units you can communicate with your other speakers as well.
And there are lots of different commands that you can give in addition to the regular Alexa commands, but commands that you can give to the Sonos one to help you with your music listening.
And some of those commands would be “Alexa, pause”, ‘stop”, or “resume” and you can name the room.
So in the particular room, in the bedroom and the kitchen you could say “Alexa, skip to the next song in the kitchen”.
You could say, “Alexa, play the next song” or “previous song”. You could say “Alexa, pause” “Alexi resume”.
“Alexa, next song” or “track” or “previous song” or “track”. “Alexa, skip”. You can say, “Alexa, what’s playing in the kitchen?” or “Alexa, what song is this?”
So those are some neat things that you can do. If you want to find out more information about it.
I do have some information on the website. Just go to the “A” word AlexainCanada.ca/Sonos.
