Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #607
So it looks like us Canadians are hopping on the smart speaker bandwagon. There was a recent study that came out from e-marketer and they look at the smart speaker users, specifically in Canada, so this is a Canadian study.
And they’ve actually revised their forecast now due to the popularity of these smart speakers. Their old forecast was suggesting that 5.8 million Canadians would be using their smart speakers at least once per month as of 2019.
But that has now been revised such that the current forecast is that 6.3 million Canadians will be using a smart speaker at least once per month.
Some big numbers for a very early technology here in Canada.

And, what’s interesting, is they say by 2021 this will be up to 8 million Canadians who will be using a smart speaker at least once a month.
So those are some big numbers for a very early technology here in Canada.
Apparently, we love our Canadian smart speakers, and I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that whether you are speaking with Alexa, or whether you’re speaking with Google, they can now both speak Canadian French.
And as far as Alexa goes, we now know that it can actually be bilingual. So that’s going to really help adoption here in Canada.
A little bit of interesting news for you today. Hope you’re having a great day. Talk to you again tomorrow.
