Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #375

Alright. It’s Teri here with your flash briefing today, on Thursday. And, I want to go over a few new stats. These stats actually come out of CBC’s research project, which is known as the Sneak Peek Report Study by Media Technology Monitor. And, this dives into the way we Canadians are using our smart speakers.

So this was done with 8,000 Canadians, a survey by telephone. And, what they noticed is that approximately one in eight Canadians own a smart speaker device, which is quite remarkable when you consider that in the first year of a particular technology coming to the Canadian market, this is actually a higher percentage than other leading technologies, such as, I’ll give examples; tablets, after their first year in Canada, only 3% of people were using them, and Netflix, after a year, only 6% of people were using them.

So, again, further evidence that voice technology is here to stay. And another thing that the survey found was that 75% of the smart speaker users are using them to stream music, which actually is not all that surprising to me because I use mine to stream music, and I’m sure a lot of you do too as the stats say.

So, there is a little bit of Canadian information for us. It’s good. We’re certainly embracing this technology, and as you know, you know the way I feel about it, that this is going to be a remarkable transformation that we go through as a society, as a result of this technology.

This dives into the way we Canadians are using our smart speakers.

Smart Speaker Stats in Canada

Okay. And I want to give a shout out as well, hot off the press. This is another review of the flash briefing that was given just yesterday, the latest review. And this is from Jamie Badger.

And, Jamie gives us five stars and writes “Must download. When I first got Alexa, I thought it was more complicated than other products like it, but after downloading Voice in Canada, I love it. Alexa learned my voice and handled my flash briefing way better, so I don’t have to listen from the beginning every time. It will start where I left off. Thanks for teaching me that and just about everything when it comes to this…. lol”

Hey Jamie, my pleasure. Thanks so much. I’m glad you’re getting a lot of value out of it. I’m glad that I can help you learn some of these tips and tricks and I want to thank you personally for leaving me the review.

It’s really, really very much appreciated. Alright? If anybody else wants to leave a review, let’s keep them coming. I love it. I love it. And I’ll continue to give you shout outs.

You just have to go to VoiceinCanada.ca, click on the leave a review button and there you go. Alright. Talk to you tomorrow.
