Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #252

Hey there, it’s Teri here, and, this is the Sunday edition for the Voice In Canada flash briefing. Now, on Sundays, I like to answer questions from the community, and one of the questions that I got was basically along the lines of I got an Echo Spot, but for some reason, I can’t register it to my account. And, there is something called “deregistering an Echo Spot”, and for all Echo devices for that matter.

And why would you want to do that? Well, if you got it as a gift, or if you were giving it to somebody else, you’d probably want to deregister it before you give it to somebody else, so that way they can add it to their Amazon account. So the problem is if you get an Echo Spot, one that hasn’t been deregistered, how do you do that? Well, the way you do it, is you have to essentially factory reset your Echo Spot.

For the Echo Spot, the way you do that, is you use the touchscreen, you start your finger at the top of the screen and slide down about halfway. Then you’re going to see a little settings icon. You click on the settings icon, and just for clarity, that’s the one on the right side that looks like a little gear icon. Once you do that, then you’re going to scroll down, and you’re going to click on “device options”.

And, there is something called “deregistering an Echo Spot”, and for all Echo devices for that matter.

Once you do that, and you scroll down again to the bottom, and you’ll see “reset to factory defaults”. When you select that, you’re going to get a little warning that says “your Spot is going to be deregistered”, and of course that’s exactly what we’re trying to do here, and that will allow you to register it to another account. And so you click forward arrow, and, the spot will power down, go through its factory default reset mode if you will, and then when it powers up, it’s like you have a brand new Spot, and you can start from the beginning, and register it to your account.

So thank you very much to Candice, who sent in that question. I hope that helps you Candice, and everybody else that has been wondering, “What do you do when you get a Spot that either is not working or not registered to you, or you want to deregister your own Spot for one reason or another?” Take care, and I will talk to you again tomorrow.
