Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #301
Hey there and welcome to today’s flash briefing. So, as you know, if you’ve been following along on Sundays, I like to answer questions from our community Facebook group, which of course can be accessed at AlexainCanada.ca/Community. Well, today I want to highlight the question by Aubrey Macintyre, and she had a great question.
She wrote; she skimmed through many posts and she’s trying to see if Chromecast is compatible with Echo, or does she need to buy a Firestick. I’m not going to tell you why she wants to know this because I don’t want to give away a gift idea in case somebody listening to this, but I do want to give a shout out to Pete Breedy because he was really, really helpful. And, he said that Chromecast as a Google product is like the mortal enemy essentially of Amazon, which is totally true, right?
Chromecast is Google and the Firestick TV and so on is Amazon. And Amazon and Google are in an all-out war right now for the Voice First technology supremacy, whether it’s Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa.
If you’ve been wondering about this, the answer is if you have an Echo device, your best bet is going to be to get a Fire TV stick as opposed to a Chromecast because that’s how you’re going to have the best compatibility.

So, that’s totally right, I mean, Chromecast is not going to work with Alexa. Now, I do also want to acknowledge that Pete was really, really helpful in some of the other information that he provided, and he said, “The Fire TV stick is indeed controllable by an Echo device, and you can also control it through the Alexa remote that comes with it”
So, for the purpose of what Aubrey’s looking for, the Fire TV stick is going to be a much better option. And he goes on to describe the 4K stick as well, which is going to obviously have better resolution and it can also turn off the TV and soundbar and cable box and so on.
So, there you go. If you’ve been wondering about this, the answer is if you have an Echo device, your best bet is going to be to get a Fire TV stick as opposed to a Chromecast because that’s how you’re going to have the best compatibility.
So thanks, Pete. Thanks, Aubrey for the question and I hope that helps you as well. Have a great day and I will talk to you tomorrow.
