Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #540

Hey there. As you know, you can use Alexa to make phone calls by giving permission for Alexa to access your contacts, but I’ve often gotten questions about which numbers can you not call.

So I want to just take a few moments here, very briefly in this flash briefing, and just to clarify, what are the numbers that you can’t call with Alexa right now. And, well, there’s about five main categories of numbers you can’t call.

One, is you can’t actually call emergency services numbers. For example, 911. Alexa won’t do that.

You can connect with other people with Echo devices.

Phone Numbers you CAN'T call with Alexa

Number two, any sort of premium rate numbers, like 1900 numbers, or toll numbers, you can’t call those either.

Number three, local information numbers, things like 211, 411, those ones as well, you cannot call.

Number four, international numbers outside of Canada, US and Mexico, you cannot call those. And, number five, you can’t dial by letter, so for example, 1-800-Flowers, if you asked to dial that, Alexa wouldn’t be able to handle that.

But, beyond that you can certainly dial local numbers. You can connect with other people with Echo devices, so there’s a lot that you can do. Alright? Check it out, have fun with it, and get dial-in. Alright, talk to you later.

Listen on your Echo Device! Easy as 1-2-3!
