Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #37
Hello and welcome to the flash briefing for today. Once again, it’s a Tuesday funny the way that happens every week.
Today is the podcast release day as usual and the topic is all about IFTTT and how you use that with your Echo or Alexa.
What is IFTTT? Well, it stands for if this, then that and what that means is you can connect various services and these services can be almost anything imaginable that’s online.
So it could be your email, it could be Facebook, it could be Twitter, it could be your home automation products, it could be your Hue light bulbs it could be your Tp link lights like I have and of course it can include Alexa.
And what you do is when you go to the website IFTTT.com you are able to create what’s called applets.
It’s basically a way that you can allow Alexa to control other online services.

And basically it allows you to trigger one service when something happens on the other services.
So this is an example, you could set up a trigger that if you give Alexa a particular command, it then ties into another service such as Facebook or your email, and it will trigger something to happen in there, whether it’s send an email or jot something down the list.
The possibilities there are some how limited only by your imagination because there are so many different services that you can tie this into.
It’s basically a way that you can allow Alexa to control other online services that you wouldn’t otherwise be able to do.
So check it out, the websites IFTTT.com and the podcast is @AlexainCanada.ca/19.
I also just want to take a few seconds to acknowledge some more of the reviews that have come in for the flash briefing.
One of their reviews is from Matt and he says, “Enjoying the daily update, clear, concise and informative”.
So thanks again Matt, I just want to acknowledge the effort that you put in to leaving that review it’s really appreciated.
Check out the podcast and I will speak to you again tomorrow.
