Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #378
Alright. It’s Teri here with a question from the community here today on Sunday. Today’s question comes from Carol and she writes in and asks, “I want to compile 16 minutes of various songs to dance to, can I do this with my Alexa device? If so, how do I do it? Hoping you can guide me with the undertaking”
Well, Carol. The answer is yes you can, even though there are some restrictions to this. The first thing is that you’re going to need to have some type of music subscription, because if you don’t have any music subscription, whether it be Spotify or Amazon Prime music, you’re not going to be able to create your own custom playlist and have them play back.
So, that’s the first thing, is if you want to do this, you’re gonna need either a subscription to Spotify or Amazon Prime. By the way, if you do want a subscription to Amazon Prime, you can get a free trial.
Just go to AlexainCanada.ca/Prime. Now, having said that, once you do have that set up, one of the easiest ways to do this is actually to use the app on your mobile phone, and if you just go through and you choose the songs that you want and add them to a playlist, then you can ask Alexa to play that playlist.
If you want to do this, you’re gonna need either a subscription to Spotify or Amazon Prime.

It’s that simple. Now, if you want to actually set the playlist through voice, you can’t do this with Spotify through Alexa directly, but you can do it if you’re using Amazon Prime music, and you simply listen to a song, when you’re listening to the song on Alexa, you in the middle of the song say, “Alexa, add this song to my playlist” and Alexa will guide you through how to do that.
Whether or not you want to choose a specific playlist or start a new one, but that’s how you do it. So you would create your playlist of dance music and then whenever you want to play it back, you just ask Alexa to play back that playlist.
Pretty cool. So that’s a great question. I hope that lots of people find a lot of use out of that, and thank you for sending that in. I hope that is very helpful to you and I hope you enjoy your dancing with Alexa.
Too bad Alexa can’t actually get up and dance, then you’d have a dance partner, but anyway, that’s a whole other story. Okay. Enjoy. Have a great day. I will talk to you again tomorrow.
