Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #372
Okay, so I’ve got another great tip for you today to get the most out of using your Alexa devices, your Echos, and your Fire TV if you’ve got Fire TV. As you may know, I recently got a Fire TV and I was wondering how do you control the TV through an Echo device without actually having to use a Fire TV remote?
And sure enough, there is a way to do that. And, that’s what I want to tell you how to do today. So this is what you do. It’s pretty simple. You simply go to your Alexa app and as usual, you click on the menu icon in the top left corner (the hamburger icon)
I’ve got to stop referring to it as a hamburger icon. I don’t know, there’s something weird about that. Anyway, you click on the menu button, then you click on the settings, and then you’re going to click on TV and video.
Pretty simple. You’re going to see a Fire TV, you’ll click on that. And then you’re going to click on “link your Alexa device” You’re going to have the option to select the Fire TV stick that you have, so you select that, and then you click continue.
Then you choose the specific Echo device that you want to be able to control that Fire TV. So assuming you have an Echo device in that room or nearby, that’s the one you’re going to choose.
So you choose that, you click “link devices” and you’re good to go. And now you can control your Fire TV from the Echo device. Pretty simple, huh? And pretty cool. So, try that out and let me know how it goes for you.
You’re going to have the option to select the Fire TV stick that you have.

And finally, just before I let you go, I’ve got one more review to let you know about. This is from Gunther. This was done on February 12th and Gunther writes, “Five stars. Great to listen to first thing in the morning. Hey, Teri. Love the tips and Easter eggs. I have this set as my second on my flash briefing after the weather, before the news”
Alright, I’ll take that, Gunther. We got to get it up to the first spot though, okay. Gunther writes, “Very informative and I learned something new every now and again. I think everyone who owns an Alexa device should have this on their flash briefing. Keep up the good work”
And then, there’s actually a couple of suggestions for Easter eggs, so I’m going to make a note of those, and I will mention those in an upcoming flash briefing of Easter eggs. So, thanks very much, Gunther.
Appreciate it very, very much. I appreciate everybody that has left a review, and if you want to do so, then you just go to VoiceinCanada.ca as usual, you click on the button in the middle. Alright, so there you go.
Try out that tip with the Fire TV and consider leaving a review. And I’m going to talk to you again tomorrow with a new podcast. Talk to you then.
