Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #444

Hey there, I hope you are doing well. It’s Teri here with your flash briefing, and today I’ve got some news for you, particularly if you use Facebook. As you may know, Facebook has recently come out with a device called the Facebook Portal.

It basically, the simplest way of describing it is that it’s similar to an Echo Show. So, it’s a voice first device that has a screen, but it’s produced by Facebook. And, it has been out in the United States now for a number of months.

They recently stated that the Facebook Portal is going to be coming to Canada in June. So you can think of it, like I said, as an Echo Show, with… obviously it’s going to integrate very well with Facebook, but it also does some video conferencing to other people that have Portals, and so on.

Here’s the thing, it has Alexa built in. So if you’re looking for a device that can do everything that I was talking about, but also have Amazon Alexa, you may be interested in this. I’ll tell you my personal opinion.

I am a little bit hesitant with regards to this particular device, and privacy concerns, simply because of the track record of Facebook. Now, whether or not you have that same kind of feelings, I’m not sure, but the bottom line is, this device is coming to Canada in the next couple of months.

Obviously it’s going to integrate very well with Facebook, but it also does some video conferencing.

Facebook Portal Coming to Canada

I will keep you updated on when it actually arrives. I would be very, very interested to hear your opinion on this. Would you be buying a Facebook Portal? I’d love to hear that. So, if you feel inclined, please hit me up on Twitter @DrTeriFisher and let me know.

Now today, I want to finish off with a quick shout out to Pikajenn, who is one of the latest people to leave me a five-star review. Thank you so much. And this person writes, “An essential must-have Alexa skill. By far this is my favorite Alexa skill and is in my flash briefing every morning. I enjoy the Easter Egg commands, but learning tips, tricks and about new updates are extremely helpful for both the novice and the expert user. This is a must-have Alexa skill if you’re Canadian because Teri tailors it to Canadians. I appreciate all the time you must spend interacting and researching Alexa to help keep us up to date.”

Thanks so much. I really, really, really appreciate that review. It’s such a thoughtful review. And, if you would like to leave a review as well, you can just go to VoiceinCanada.ca and click on the red button that you will see right there.

Alright. Have a great day. I will talk to you tomorrow.
