Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #106

Hey there, hope you are doing well on this fine Monday. I want to tell you about a conference that I attended last week.

I attended the E-Health conference, which is Canada’s national conference and trade show with regards to E-Health technologies.

And that was here in Vancouver. And just as an aside, I actually got to meet one of the Alexa in Canada community members who lives in Vancouver and came out and we sat down and chatted for a while and was fascinating to chat with him.

So if you’re listening, Michael shout out to you, it was great to meet you.

But one of the most interesting topics at the conference was the idea behind space medicine.

And some of the speakers included Robert Thirsk an astronauts and Isabel Tremblay who is the director of Life Science and Space Medicine at the Canadian space agency.

And it was fascinating because they were talking about how AI and things like Alexa and other similar Voice First Technologies are going to be so instrumental in the quest for humans to go to Mars because the distance is so vast that they were saying that when it comes to health technologies, if there were to be a crisis or something, an emergency on a spaceship going from a health perspective on the way to Mars, it would take 40 minutes for the transmission, even just to get back to earth for that call to help.

Things like Alexa are going to become crucial in this type of endeavor.

And another 40 minutes for it get back to the space craft. So you can imagine that almost two hours can pass.

And so nobody, no human being can know everything there is to know about all the topics.

So AI and things like Alexa are going to become crucial in this type of endeavor because you’re gonna be able to in the future very soon likely be able to ask questions about your health care or about any other issues that are going on and be able to get the knowledge that has been previously programmed into the AI.

So I find this absolutely fascinating. It was a great conference. What did strike me overall, however, the comments was that there wasn’t a lot of Voice First Technology topics being discussed, but I think that’s going to change, I really do.

I think that we’re just the beginning of voice first and I met a lot of people that were interested in talking about it and I think next year it’s going to be very different.

Anyway, shout out to the conference organizers. It was great job and I had a great time.

So I’ll keep you updated and other events that are coming up as well.

Hope you have a great day and make sure you’re listening to tomorrow’s flash briefing and podcasts.

We have a really, really great speaker, so check it out. AlexainCanada.ca/Podcast.
