Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #424
Hey there, it’s Teri here with your flash briefing for today. And, if you have at all being feeling left out when you compare the devices that we have available to us in Canada, versus what they have in the United States, then you’re going to like this story.
Finally, we have two more devices available right now in Canada, that they have had in the United States for a couple of months. These are the Link and the Link Amp, or specifically the Echo Link and the Echo Link Amp.
So, what are these? Well, they look like little boxes, almost like little stereo receivers that you’d see in your everyday home stereo, and what it does, is it allows you to essentially transform your current big home audio system, that may be connected to a receiver, maybe there’s a couple of passive speakers, maybe you’ve got speakers throughout your home, but essentially you want to be able to connect this home audio system to Alexa, and this is a way to do that.
It allows you to stream the high-quality audio that is controlled by Alexa through the device to your speakers. Now there’s the Link and there’s the Link Amp.
The Link Amp, as it says, has an amplifier built in, so that’s very good if you’re trying to power some passive speakers, meaning just a speaker that’s connected to your amplifier.
It allows you to essentially transform your current big home audio system.

Now one of the really nice things about using this device, the Link or the Link Amp, is that you can then start to group your speakers with Alexa to control where audio is being played.
So, that’s a really nice feature. The other thing that you do need to note, however, as well, is that you need another compatible Alexa device, a Dot, an Echo, and Echo Show, and so on, even an Input, so that you can talk to the device and control it by voice.
So you do need another device to allow Alexa to hear what you’re saying, and then you use the Link and the Link Amp, to then distribute the audio to your home audio system.
So, if you are an audiophile, if you want high-quality audio, and you want to use something that’s going to allow you to talk to Alexa, and get this streaming throughout your entire home in the highest quality possible, this may be just the thing for you.
