Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #221
Hey there, I hope you’re having a great day. So, today we’re going to talk about the new Echo Dot in a little bit more detail. As you know, Amazon had a flurry of announcements last week and I thought we’d take a few moments probably on this last briefing, but also in the upcoming flash briefings to highlight a little bit more about the devices that are specifically available in Canada for pre-order right now and they will be available to get in your hands October 11th.
Now, the first one that we’ll just briefly cover. Oh, and by the way, if you didn’t listen to the podcast this week, the podcast, which you can find at AlexainCanada.ca/45 for the 45th episode. That one covered all the announcements, but today we’re going to talk just a little bit about the new Echo Dot. So, the Echo Dot is now the third generation of the Dot and it’s got a completely different shape.
Instead of it having very square corners and looking very, very much like a hockey puck. It’s a little bit more rounded. It still does look a lot like a hockey puck, but it’s got a softer edge to it. I actually liked the look of it. I think it’s very modern looking and I like the changes they’ve made.
It also comes in a couple of different fabric finishes so you can get the dark charcoal finish, you can get the medium heathered gray finish and you can also get the light sandstone finish. As far as the functionality, it’s very similar to the old Echo Dot.
I think it’s very modern looking and I like the changes they’ve made.

The speaker size is 1.6 inches, of course, it still is the smallest one, so when you compare it to the other Echo devices, the audio quality, although it’s very good, it’s not as good as the other Echo devices simply because the speaker is a little bit smaller. Nevertheless, it’s excellent if you want to be able to add Echo Dots to multiple rooms or multiple offices, your business because it is the least expensive.
So it’s $69.99 if you buy two, Amazon already has it on sale. If you buy two, you get to save 15 bucks, so you get about 7.50 off each one, so it brings it down to just over 60 bucks each. If you want to check it out, by all means, do so at AlexainCanada.ca/Echo, and that’ll take you to the Amazon page where you can see all about it.
So one of the things I want to mention is that they are offering a sale that if you choose to get the Echo Dot with an Amazon smart plug, which they also announced, you can get both of those for $89.98, which is about $15 off as well.
So if you want one Echo but you also want a smart plug, then that would be the way to go. Hope that’s helpful for you. Enjoy and we’ll talk again tomorrow. We’ll give you some info on one of the other new products. Talk to you then.
