Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #32
Have you ever wondered why Alexa is glowing purple or glowing green or orange or blue or any other color of the rainbow?
Well, I have a times two, and today I wanted to tell you why Alexa might be glowing a particular color.
And just so you know what she’s trying to tell, you know, it’s interesting with these smart speakers, there’s no display, at least certain smart speakers have no display and for that reason it’s a little bit harder to get information out unless you’re listening to it.
Now, audio is the way to go, obviously, but sometimes some visual feedback can be useful and so this is what Alexa is trying to tell you when she is displaying different colors.
So you probably know this one, but you will see that when you speak to Alexa and say the wake word, that the light ring will turn a solid blue and a small section of it will be Cyan.
Why Alexa might be glowing a particular color.
And that light blue or Cyan is actually pointing in the direction of where you are because you may know that Alexa has a number of speakers located around the circle.
So that’s how it can determine from which location she’s being spoken to. If it’s solid blue with a spitting Cyan, then you’ve spoken a command and now Alexa is processing your requests.
So it’s sending that request to the Amazon cloud service where it’s being processed and being sent back to you.
You may also know what the white color means. The white color is the indication of what the volume level is set to and when you press the plus button or the minus button on your device, you will see that the amount of the ring that is white will change accordingly.
So if you increase the volume, then it becomes the white ring becomes a little bigger and if you decrease the volume, the white room becomes a little bit smaller.
Now there are many, many more other colors that Alexa can display. But for the sake of time today, I think we’re going to stop it there and how about we continue this tomorrow? I’ll tell you tomorrow all about purple and green talk to you then.

2. Click on “Add Content” and search for “Voice in Canada”.
3. Click on “Voice in Canada” and the Enable button.
