Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #10

Hey there and welcome to the flash briefing for Wednesday. So today I’m going to go through a quick little tutorial about how you can change your account from an Amazon.ca to an Amazon.com account.

Now first of all, why would you want to do this? Well, the bottom line is that there are lots of skills that are being developed in Canada, but there are way, way more in the United States right now simply because Alexa has been in the United States for over three years now.

In fact, there are tens of thousands of skills in the United States. So if you find that you are lacking a particular skill that you really want to have, but you know that it’s available in the United States, this might be something that you want to do.

But just keep in mind that you will lose some of the Canadian content in terms of the location services and some of the others specific Canadian type of responses that Alexa gives you.

But if that doesn’t bother you and you want to go ahead and use the US setting so that you get the skills and hey power to you.

This is how you do it. You basically have to log off of your Alexa Mobile App. Then you go onto the amazon.com website and you create a new account there.

You will need a US address, but you don’t actually have to have a real one.

But just keep in mind that you will lose some of the Canadian content.

Changing Amazon.com to Amazon.ca

You could theoretically just make up an address, okay? Once you have your account set up, you log off, then you go to the Amazon.ca website and then when you’re there, you go into the menu and you go to your account and list section and you go to your account.

Under the digital content and devices part, you’re going to see content and devices. So you’re going to click on that and you’re going to click on manage your content and devices.

And there you’ll see three tabs at the top. One of them is the settings tab. When you click on that, you then have the option to change your country.

And that’s where you change from Canada to the US address that you set up in the amazon.com account previously.

Once you’ve done that, it will move your device. So your Alexa device from the amazon.ca to the amazon.com site and once you’ve done that, then you can re-log into your Alexa App and you’re good to go with a US account.

Now I know that was a lot of information. All of this is put out step by step for you on the website. All you have to do is go to AlexainCanada.ca/FAQ. That’s got all of our FAQ is there and this is one of the FAQs that’s listed right at the top. So check it out and hope you find this valuable. We will talk again tomorrow.
