Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #295

Hey there, it’s Teri here with your flash briefing for…, what’s the date today? December 8th. It’s your flash briefing and it’s Teri here. Hope you’re having a great day. Today, I want to talk about the differences between what is going on with the French Canadians and English speaking Canadians in terms of voice speakers. So it’s not just specific to Alexa here, but I thought that would be an interesting topic for us being Canadians, for the most part.

I know we’ve got Americans, and we’ve got listeners from all over the world, but here’s the deal. There’s been some research done and it shows that there are some differences in the way that English speaking and French-speaking Canadians are using their smart assistance.

Now, granted, a lot of this may be due to the fact that the speakers were available to the English speaking regions of Canada prior to the French-speaking region, but nevertheless, these are some of the differences.

So French Canadians seem to be having a little more fun with voice search while English speaking Canadians are very practical, like setting alarms and that sort of thing.

So French Canadians seem to be having a little more fun with voice search while English speaking Canadians are very practical, like setting alarms and that sort of thing. About 40% of English Canadians are using the technology regularly or occasionally compared to only a third of French Canadians.

English Canadians tend to like to use the technology more to find a local business with the search function, whereas French Canadians, they prefer to use the technology to get more information on a product that they’re interested in. And, here’s one final one, which is quite interesting depending on how you interpret this.

English Canadians utilize voice technology significantly more while driving and at home compared to French Canadians who utilize it with friends or in the bedroom. You can take from that what you want. Anyway, enjoy. Have a great day. I hope you found that interesting and I will talk to you tomorrow. Take care.
