Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #224
Alright, well, hope you’re having a fantastic Sunday. As you may know, on Sundays I like to go through and answer some of the questions that I’m seeing in the community Facebook group. And by the way, if you haven’t joined the Alexa in Canada Facebook group, feel free to do so.
You just go to AlexainCanada.ca/Community and that’ll take you right to our group, but to get to the point here, I’ve been noticing in the group there has been a lot of discussions recently about Amazon Music Unlimited.
And, I want to tell you a little bit about that. Amazon just announced that they now have this service, Amazon Music Unlimited, and this is now available in Canada. So, what is Amazon Music Unlimited?
Well, as you may know, we have had access to Amazon music through Prime for some time now in Canada, and that allowed Canadians to access approximately a million songs in Amazon’s database. But now, with Amazon Music Unlimited in Canada, this unlocks millions of more songs to people that choose to subscribe to this.
And, basically, it’s an additional service that you have the option of choosing to purchase. Once you choose to use this service. You can now ask other questions. Things like, “Alexa play music for working out or playing music for cleaning” I’m not sure what kind of music is cleaning music, but you can ask that.
You can ask for certain genres to wake you up in the morning, so, “Alexa, wake me up with relaxing music at 7:00 AM” If you hear a song that you love, you can say, “Alexa, add this song to my running playlist or create a new playlist with this song”
You can ask Alexa to play, you know, a particular type of music that you’re listening to earlier in the day, and so on. So it gives quite a bit more functionality as well.
With Amazon Music Unlimited in Canada, this unlocks millions of more songs to people that choose to subscribe to this.

Pricing. Well, if you are a Prime member, you have the option of buying the service on a yearly basis or a monthly basis yearly at $79 a year, and that’s in addition to your Prime subscription, or $7.99 per month. For non-prime subscribers, it’s $9.99 per month. You can get a family plan, this is for Prime or non-prime users, and that’s $14.99 per month.
So that would allow multiple people in your family to listen to different things at the same time. A family plan annually for Prime members, if you want to go annually, then it’s $149 per year, and if you want to just get a single device plan, just so that it works on a single Echo device, you can get that for $3.99 per month.
So this is basically the same pricing as Spotify and Apple Music for non-prime members. But for Prime members, of course, you’re getting a discount. So if you are a Prime member and you are paying for Spotify, this is a way that Amazon is going after your business, and you may want to do that.
So you can get a 90-day free trial to Amazon Music Unlimited. And to do that, I’ve created a direct link. You’d basically go to AlexainCanada.ca/MusicUnlimited. And then you can check out all the details there. Hope you have a wonderful weekend and I’ll talk to you tomorrow.
