Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #617
Hey there, it’s Teri and I’ve got a very Canadian flash briefing for you today. In honor of the early NHL season, I want to let you know that Amazon has released a whole bunch of new functionality for Alexa, in that Alexa can answer many different types of NHL and hockey related questions.
I’m gonna go through a whole bunch of these quickly now, so you can get a sense of the things that you can ask.
Also feel free to experiment with Alexa and see what things you can ask. And if you need to have the list of things that I’m asking here, they will be on the show notes page, which I produce for every single flash briefing that I do, at VoiceinCanada.ca.
Alright, so let’s just get to this. Here’s a bunch of things that you can ask Alexa, all related to the NHL.
You can say, “When is the next NHL game? Who do the Canucks play next? What time is the next Canucks game? When or where is the NHL All Star game or Winter Classic? What happened in the Canucks game?”
Alexa can answer many different types of NHL and hockey related questions.

Seeing a pattern here? Canucks. Hey, go Canucks. “How many goals did Bo Horvat score last night? Who scored for the Canucks? Who is leading the NHL and goals assists points?”
You can go on and on. You can say, “What are the Canucks odds tonight? Who is favorite in the Canucks Capital’s game? How many hits did the Canucks have? How many goals did this person have in a particular year?”
And, to top it all off, you can ask, “Alexa, who’s going to win the Stanley cup this year?” and, “Alexa, tell me a hockey joke.” Enjoy.
If you’re a hockey fan, you’ll have lots of fun with all of these commands, and I will speak to you again tomorrow. Enjoy. I’m going to go watch the Canucks game.
