In this episode, Teri talks with a counterpart, William Nutt, about the pattern of Alexa use in the United States and how this parallels the uptake of the Canadian use of Alexa and Echo devices.

William Nutt is a self-described “Alexa fanatic” and the creator of Alexa Bio, a website all about Alexa. Based out of New York, William is a technology and digital media enthusiast; by day, he operates Nutt Labs. His website is very similar to Alexa in Canada, except that the site focuses on the United States perspective.

In this episode we sat down and chatted about his experience with Alexa in the US, along with some of the differences and similarities between Alexa there and in Canada.

We discuss the origins of Alexa Bio, which, like Alexa in Canada, grew out of his immediate love for Alexa and the fact that there were few reliable resources available online. He is now actively aggregating news updates; creating tutorials; compiling lists of commands, skills and devices, and helping others learn how to use Alexa.

We also discuss the fact that the interest around Alexa, both in the United States and Canada, is growing at a phenomenal rate. In fact, William believes that the interest in Alexa is outpacing the development of resources available for non-technical users.

We also touch on Alexa-enabled hardware and what is available now in the States, including the Echo Dot, Echo, and Tap.

Finally, we talk about the future of Alexa and voice technology. According to William, voice and smart digital assistants will be the “next great technological phenomenon.” The adoption rate of this technology is absolutely remarkable. Voice is the next frontier of digital technology!

And the fact that you’re here means that you too are on the cutting edge!
