Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #318
Alright, you NHL fans. Here is an Alexa skill just for you. This is quintessential Canadian content for you. The NHL in time for the holiday season and this rapid purchasing of Echo devices has launched their own Alexa skill, the NHL skill. And, this is really cool, because it provides scores, standings, stats, schedules, broadcast information, player bios.
It is really comprehensive. So if you are a hockey fan and you’re looking for some on-demand information about your favorite teams, then this skill is for you. Of course, it is available here in Canada.
You just have to enable the NHL skill. And, some of the things that you can ask for it. There is just a huge list of them, and I’ll throw out some of them. You can ask, “What are the upcoming Games for a particular team?”, you know, “When do the Vancouver Canucks play next?”
“What is the NHL schedule for tonight?” You can say, “Are the Canucks winning?” And I keep mentioning the Canucks, because, hey, I’m a little biased towards the Canucks.
If you are a hockey fan and you’re looking for some on-demand information about your favorite teams, then this skill is for you.

“What period is it in, in the Canucks game?” “What’s the current score of the game?” “How much time is left in the Canucks game?” “Is there a recap of the Canucks game?” “Is there a preview of the game tonight?” I’m going to ask, “How can I watch the game? What network is it on? What channel is it on?” And then you can get into a whole bunch of statistics; “How many goals does Brock Boeser have?
How many shout-outs does name your favorite goalie have? What are Connor McDavid’s stats? When was Connor McDavid drafted? What is a player’s number? Where was a player born? What are the conference standings? What’s the record for this team?”
And so on, there are tons you can do. So, if you are a hockey fan, this one is for you. Check it out. I’m sure you will have lots of fun learning all about your favorite teams and your favorite players. Alright, take care. Talk to you tomorrow.
