Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #628
Well, it’s Teri here and it seems like just about every day we’re hearing about new integrations with Alexa, and various devices, and that includes cars.
Well, there’s a new press release that just came out that says that GM, General Motors, is going to be offering built-in Alexa auto integration through the infotainment systems of their new vehicles starting early next year.
And this includes owners of 2018 and 2019 models. They will actually be able to get the voice controlled assistant added to their vehicle through an over the air update.
So, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Buick, and GMC customers will able to link their Amazon Alexa accounts to their vehicles, and then just access it using voice commands, or voice buttons, or icons on a touch screen.

So, very interesting. You have to have a 2018 or newer vehicle, and it must have the compatible infotainment system.
What is it going to be able to do? Well, some of these are expected. Things like controlling devices at your home, smart devices through your car.
You can of course, check the news, you can add items to shopping lists or cards, and it’s also going to integrate with the vehicles navigation system, and so on.
So this is very interesting. A very strong partnership between Amazon and GM.
And I have a little hunch that this is only the beginning of these types of collaborations that we’re going to be hearing about.

1. Open your Alexa app and click on the Menu button > Settings > Flash Briefing.
2. Click on “Add Content” and search for “Voice in Canada”.
3. Click on “Voice in Canada” and the Enable button.
