Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #630

Hey there, it’s Teri Fisher here with your flash briefing for Sunday. Hope you’re having a wonderful long weekend.

So, today, on Sundays, I typically like to answer questions from the community and today is no different. So, this question comes in through email, and it’s from Leo B., and he writes, “I’m trying to find out if the Echo Show with a feature for the blind is available. This feature enables a blind user to hold up an object to the Show’s camera, and ask what it is. It’s available in the US, but I still cannot determine if it has come to Canada yet.”

Well, thanks for the question, first of all, Leo, and you’re absolutely right. This is a very cool feature that is available on the Show, the Echo Show devices in the United States.

It’s exactly what you described. You could hold up a device and the device will tell you what it is. Very cool.

Unfortunately, this is another one of those answers where I have to tell you this, it’s not available in Canada yet.

This feature enables a blind user to hold up an object to the Show’s camera.

What is This? Feature not in Canada

I’ve actually tried to test it on my own Echo Show and it just is not working. So, when it’s coming to Canada, I don’t know. Hopefully it’ll be sometime soon.

I will tell you this though, if this is a feature that is very important to you, you can always set up your Echo devices on a US account. To do that, I have very clear detailed instructions on the website.

You simply go to AlexainCanada.ca/FAQ, and on the FAQ site, you will see that there is a question there, and it explains how to switch over from the Canadian account to the US account.

So that’s the best we can do for now, Leo. I hope that this will come to Canada very soon, because I do think it’s a great feature, and I will definitely keep you and the rest of the community updated on that.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend. I’ll talk to you again tomorrow.
