Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #585

Alright. There’s yet another study coming out that looks at how people enjoy using Alexa, and in particular, this one is looking at seniors. As if we really didn’t know this. Huh?

But it is interesting. There’s another study that just came out, and this one is from MIT.

A new study was published from the MIT technology review, that says that people need to start getting rid of the stereotype that seniors are bad with technology, because older adults are embracing voice assistants as helpful tools in their daily lives.

And furthermore, MIT actually said that, “This is a huge untapped market.”

We know this, and in fact, I can say that a lot of the listeners of this flash briefing are in fact, what would be considered, “The older” population.

So, no surprise here. One of the really obvious reasons, or maybe not so obvious reasons, that this is being embraced so quickly by the older population, is that the technology is so user friendly. Right?

There’s not much of a learning curve here. Once you’ve got your device set up, you just speak to it. And it’s just so natural. So, this is helping to give seniors more meaningful lives.

The technology is so user friendly.

Seniors Like Amazon Alexa

The other side of the coin, of course, is that we need to be aware of potential privacy or security risks to the vulnerable population, particularly when they don’t quite understand how the technology works, even though it is very easy to use.

So that’s just something to keep in mind. Now, before I sign off, I do want to give a shout out to one of the people, one of the latest people that left a review for the flash briefing.

Again, these are all so appreciated. I really mean that. And this one goes out to Carolyn Metz. She gave it five stars and she wrote, “Your one stop Alexa resource for Canadian users.”

And she went on to write, “My husband and I consider ourselves early adopters of all things techie. I bought him Alexa for Christmas 2017, and that’s when it was so new to Canada. I’m so glad that Voice in Canada was around then, and I love all the information that Teri has gathered into one place for us. We now have many Alexa linked devices to Alexas, and waiting to integrate more AI voice-smarts into our lives. Listening to our daily Alexa in Canada flash briefing is a fantastic morning ritual. Congrats, Teri.”

Well, thanks Carolyn. And thanks for such a lengthy, and very detailed review.

I really sincerely appreciate that. It’s wonderful to get that kind of feedback, and know what kind of value it’s bringing to you.

So, thank you very much. And, if anybody else would like to leave a review, VoiceinCanada.ca. Okay. Talk to you tomorrow.
