Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #577
Alright. This is exciting. We’ve got another new feature here in Canada.
Just recently, as you know, whisper mode was enabled, and just by the way, I do want to give a shout out to Andrew E. who raised the point, and brought this to my attention, that you don’t necessarily have to go into your Alexa app to enable the whisper mode.
You can just say to Alexa, “Enable whisper mode”, and that’ll work. So, fantastic.
Thanks very much, Andrew, for that. But the feature I want to talk to you about today, is a feature that Sylvain B. brought to my attention. And, this is the feature.
You can now adjust the rate of speech, with which Alexa speaks to you.
So this is really, really cool. So, you can tell Alexa to speak faster, or to speak slower, and you simply say, “Alexa speak faster” or “Alexa speaks slower.” Pretty self explanatory.
You can now adjust the rate of speech, with which Alexa speaks to you.
If you want to reset the speech, then you can say, “Alexa, reset your speaking”, and she will tell you she’s now speaking at a normal rate.
This is very interesting, because, this was actually one of the topics that came up at the recent Voice of Healthcare Summit that I went to, because, there are certain populations that may find Alexa easier to understand if she speaks more slowly.
And Heidi Colbertson, who is a leader in this field when it comes to the aging population, and voice technology, and helping people to maintain their independence.
She was saying that one of the big pieces of feedback that she kept getting from her users was that they would like Alexa to be able to speak more slowly, and now you can do that.
So, that is fantastic. So, check it out. “Alexa, speak faster, speak slower, reset your speaking speed.” And, I hope you enjoy that feature. And thanks again for those of you that brought this to my attention. Very, very much appreciated. Have a great day.

2. Click on “Add Content” and search for “Voice in Canada”.
3. Click on “Voice in Canada” and the Enable button.
