Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #21

Happy Sunday and on the weekends I like to try to do something a little bit more lighthearted.

And today I want to share with you a couple of commands that Alexa understands right off the bat.

When you purchase your device right out of the box and these commands are really good, particularly if you’re an indecisive person and you want to get Alexa to, you know, to come up with your decisions for you.

So a couple of things you can do. Number one, you can ask Alexa simply say, “Alexa, flip a coin” and if you’re not sure you know whether to do something or not do something or you’re having trouble making a decision between two options, assign one to heads and one to tails and get Alexa to do it for you.

So there’s one way you can do it. Another way you can do it is if there’s a number of options that you’re trying to decide among or amongest, then assign each one of those to a particular number from one to six.

You can actually name the type of dice that you want Alexa to roll.

Indecisive Commands

And just ask, “Alexa, roll a dice” and she will tell you what to do based on the number of the option. Interestingly, you can actually name the type of dice that you want Alexa to roll.

So you could actually say, “Alexa roll a nine sided dice” and she’ll give you a number between one and nine.

You can also say, “Alexa, pick a number between one and nine” and it will do the same thing. And if you just want to see if you can beat Alexa at her own game say, Alexa, I’m still doing it.

I’m trying so hard to not say the Alexa word because I know what triggers people’s devices. Just say “Alexa, rock paper, scissors” and she will play with you and you can see if you can beat her.

And my kids actually have actually had a lot of fun with this and they kind of keep scoring. They see who’s winning between Alexa and them it’s pretty even actually.

So give it a try, have some fun, play around with these features and enjoy the rest of your weekend. Have a great day.
