Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #459
UPDATE – PLEASE NOTE: Apologies, but this flash briefing was an error. Alexa is NOT yet available in Canada on the Fire Tablets. Our apologies for the confusion. We will update this once it becomes available.
Hey there, it’s Teri Fisher here with your flash briefing for May 23rd. And, today I want to tell you about a new product that Amazon has just announced and they are releasing, and of course, it has Alexa built in.
This is the all-new Fire 7 Tablet. It’s called Fire 7 because it has a seven-inch display. It comes with 16 gigabytes of memory or 32 gigabytes of memory, and it’s pretty inexpensive as far as tablets go $69.99.
It’s going to be released on June 6, 2019. So I could tell you all about the specs of this thing. Of course, I could go into that, but here’s the thing I really want to highlight, this being the Voice in Canada flash briefing, is that this now has Alexa built in, and you can activate Alexa hands-free.
So, in prior versions of the Fire 7 tablet, you had to have it plugged in, you had to have the screen turned on. You no longer need to do that. So, this in a way, could be a substitute for an Echo Show, a much less expensive version of the Echo Show.
The catch is that, for this, because it’s a tablet, if you want to have it on your desk like an Echo Show would be sitting, you’re going to need some kind of case to hold it, to prop it up, so that it can sit there.
This now has Alexa built in, and you can activate Alexa hands-free.

And, if you are going to leave it constantly on listening for your command, if you say the word Alexa, you’re going to want to have it plugged in. Right? But I mean, you’d have your show plugged in any way.
So that’s not really a downside, but the fact of the matter is that this runs off batteries when you’re using it as a tablet, and it has to be recharged. So if you want to be able to continuously use it as an Echo Show, then you’re going to need to have it either plugged in, or you will have to recharge it periodically.
The bottom line is that this is an option for another way for you to get a screen display with Alexa, in a relatively inexpensive product. If you want to check this out, just go to AlexainCanada.ca/Fire7. That’s AlexainCanada.ca/Fire7.
That is my affiliate link on Amazon, and of course, I do earn a commission if you purchase through that, but there’s absolutely no extra cost to you. So there you go, hopefully, you find that helpful and it gives you another option when it comes to purchasing screen voice technology.
Alright, have a great day. Talk to you tomorrow.
