Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #439
Hey there, it’s Teri here with your flash briefing for Friday. Hope you’re having a fantastic week. Today, I want to tell you a little bit about a rumor that has been going around the internet, and this is that Amazon appears to be getting ready to launch a more expensive higher fidelity music service, which of course would be compatible with Alexa.
So here’s the deal, and I’ll say right off the bat, I don’t know yet if this is actually going to come to Canada, or if it’s even going to come to fruition at all. But it is interesting that Amazon is really making a strong play here to get into the music market.
As you know, they’ve got a number of different music streaming services, whether you’ve got Prime, where you subscribe to Music Unlimited, and what they are… or what the rumors are saying, is that this is going to be a high fidelity music streaming service, which if you want to get into technical defect details, it’s going to be streaming at 44.1 Kilohertz or 16 bit.
So, it’s rumored to be better than CD quality. The rumor is that this will cost approximately $15 per month. I’m assuming that is US dollars, because typically things come to the US first, but anyway, I wanted to share that with you.
It’s an interesting rumor and if you’re interested in listening to streaming music, and in particular you like to use the Amazon service, you may be interested in this. Now I just want to finish off today by giving a shout out to Chris Lipscombe.
I hope I pronounced your name right, Chris. Chris gave me a recent five-star review and I want to thank him for this. It’s an interesting review because, well, I’ll just read it to you.
It’s rumored to be better than CD quality.

This is what he says, “Five stars. Excellent. Great content. New content every day. Skill works well. However, literally half of the briefing is always talking about your five-star reviews, and he goes on to say, you already have us, you’re preaching to the choir, although I can see what you’re trying to do. Thank your users and encourage reviews. A full 50% of your content every day on this is too much. I’m still giving you five stars, but please reduce the talking about your reviews so much.”
Hey Chris, I really do appreciate that feedback and that’s of course why I’m sharing it with you, and with all the listeners here. I’ve actually thought about this myself. I’m torn. I’ll be honest.
I really like talking about the reviews because I truly appreciate them at the same time, I realize, and I’m doing it right now, I’m spending quite a bit of time on it.
So my goal is to find the happy medium going forward, just so that you know that, and so everybody knows that, I want to give a shout out to people that are giving reviews, but I really want to focus on the content of the flash briefing.
So Chris, thanks very much for the review. Thanks for your input. I really appreciate that. Thanks for the feedback and I’m going to take that into account as we go forward. Okay. Hope everybody has a great day.
I’ve got some Easter Egg commands for you tomorrow. Hope you’ll tune in and look forward to those tomorrow. Take care.
