Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #404
Hello. Well, I have a little tip for you for Alexa that I discovered really by accident. About a week or two ago, there was some discussion in the community page about Alexa Hunches, so just very briefly, if you don’t know what Hunches are, it’s a feature that’s available in the United States where Alexa can suggest to you, things that might be out of order when it comes to your smart home.
So maybe you left a door unlocked, or you left the light on, and in certain times of the day, Alexa can suggest to you that maybe you want to turn these off, or lock the door, and so on.
Anyway, the issue is that this isn’t necessarily available in Canada as a specific option that you can turn on or off in your Alexa settings. But, what is interesting is more and more I am noticing that Alexa is starting to give the suggestions, hunches if you will, completely on her own.
And I just discovered another one, and I wanted to let you know about it, and it’s simply because of my habits with the way I use Alexa. So it’s another evidence, another piece of proof that Alexa is actually learning.
The AI is doing some learning based on my behaviors. So, here’s what I normally do. Normally when I go to bed at night, I say to Alexa, “Alexa set an alarm for 6 AM”
That was really fascinating because she learned from my behaviors.

Yeah, I know, 6 AM, you can say what you will about getting up at 6 AM, but anyway, setting alarm for 6 AM. I say that just about every weeknight.
And the other night, I was getting ready for bed and I said, “Alexa set an alarm for 6 AM”, and Alexa said to me, “Would you like me to set a repeating alarm for you for every weekday at 6 AM?”
And I thought that was very interesting, because I thought, “Yeah, why am I doing this every single night?” And so I said yes, and Alexa did it. So I just thought that was really fascinating because she learned from my behaviors, she gave me a suggestion, or a hunch if you will, and she did it on her own.
And now, I have this alarm set. So, I think we’re going to be seeing more and more of that. And I like it. I think it’s great. That’s the whole point of having these assistants, to make our lives easier and more manageable.
So, there you go. I’d be curious to know if you have experienced the same sort of thing happening with your devices. Alright, Have a great day. I’ll talk to you again tomorrow.
