Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #371
Happy Sunday. It’s Teri here and it’s time to answer another question from the community, which by the way, you can always join at AlexainCanada.ca/Community.
So today’s question comes from Tyler Botham and he says, “Does anyone know if you can sync Alexa with the calendar on an iPhone? I’m just looking to have it all work together on my phone and maybe a different calendar app. Not sure what’s needed”
Okay. So, first of all, Tyler, I can tell you right off the bat that yes, I have mine synced with my calendar on my iPhone, and it’s relatively easy. I want to thank the people in the community that did respond to this, specifically Yanik Gregoire, and he actually posted a link to another resource, which was very good for learning how to do this.
Anyway, what you do to set this up, is you, first of all, go to your Alexa app. When you go to your Alexa app, you click on the menu button (the hamburger icon) and then you’re going to click on settings.
When you click on settings, you are then going to click on calendar. When you click on calendar, you then click on Apple and then you tap continue. Now, if you haven’t set up two-factor authentication, it’s a security feature with your iCloud account, you will be prompted and shown how to do that.
You’ll be given instructions on how to do that. So it’s an extra little step you got to do, but it’s all about security. So follow those steps. Once you’ve done that, then you can come back to the Alexa app, click continue, you’ll enter your Apple ID and the specific password that you created during that two-factor authentication process.
And then you’ll select the specific calendars that you want Alexa to be able to connect with. And then you’re set. And then you can start using Alexa with commands such as, what am I doing today? What are my plans for the weekend? Am I busy on Monday? Do I have plans on an upcoming day? and you can name the day.
I have mine synced with my calendar on my iPhone, and it’s relatively easy.

So it’s pretty cool and it’s a great way to get your schedule for what’s going on, particularly in the morning when you ask Alexa, you get up and say, “Hey Alexa, what’s on my schedule today?” Alright.
And finally, as I promised, I received another review and I want to give a shout out this time to Chris L., who left a review for this flash briefing. He gave it five stars and he wrote, “This should be a core skill for Alexa in Canada. Teri, I love the Voice in Canada skill for Alexa. It’s a fantastic addition to my flash briefing and I look forward to it each and every morning when I ask Alexa to start my day. I highly recommend the skill to keep you informed about Alexa and how it can be of more use to you. And, it’s for Canadians. Thanks for taking the time to make these briefings. It is greatly appreciated. Five stars, two thumbs up. Must have skill for Alexa”
Well, Chris, that was a very thoughtful and very much appreciated review. So, what can I say? I’m so pleased to hear that you are finding a lot of value in it and I hope others are as well.
So if you want to leave a review, you go to VoiceinCanada.ca, click on the button in the middle and it’s that simple. Okay? I will talk to you tomorrow.
