Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #368
Hey there, hope you are doing well. It’s Thursday. It’s Teri here with your latest flash briefing. And today I want to tell you about something that I came across on Twitter. If you don’t know who Bradley Metrock is, he is the head of the VoiceFirst.FM Network, of which my podcast is actually a part of.
And the other person that you should be following is Pete Erickson, and he’s the founder of Voice Summit, one of the premier voice technology conferences that are happening in Newark.
Anyway, they posted publicly today that they are introducing something known as VoiceFirst.Community, and I think this is a fantastic endeavor that the two of these guys are spearheading.
So what is this? Well, basically it is a nonprofit organization which will advocate for and promote the shared interests of the larger voicefirst community. And, they will have a website that will go live in March.
The website is of the same name, VoiceFirst.Community. And, what sort of things is this organization going to look into? Well, one of the things that’s very important is looking at a voicefirst code of ethics.
They’re going to be looking into voicefirst ratings. So, essentially, they’re looking at creating a rating system just like the way they are ratings for video games in terms of mature, or you know, PG or et cetera.
They’re looking at creating a rating system for voice applications, or skills, or actions. And then something else they’re looking at is analytics, interoperability, verticals, and much more.
The reason I’m telling this to you is that they just posted this publicly, and if you are interested in getting involved with this, they are very open to getting involvement and feedback from people.
I think this is a fantastic endeavor that the two of these guys are spearheading.

So I would go online and I would follow Bradley Metrock, I would follow Pete Erickson, and, if you search on Linkedin, they actually have an article called introducing VoiceFirst.Community. So I think this is a fantastic endeavor.
I love the idea and if you’re at all interested in it, then for sure get involved. They said that they will be doing a meeting about this at the Voice Summit Conference coming up in Newark.
So you want to stay tuned for details about that as well. And finally to cap off this episode, I want to give a shout out to another person that left me a fantastic review, and this is Phil Ferin.
So thank you Phil for this review of the flash briefing. He gives it five stars. He writes, “Excellent. This is a great podcast. I’m new to Alexa and the tips are a huge help. Audio quality is top notch.
I look forward to this segment every morning. Keep them coming” Well, thanks very much Phil. I really, really, truly appreciate that review. And, if you would like to leave a review as well, you can simply go to VoiceinCanada.ca and you will see a red button in the middle of the page to leave a review.
Thanks very much. Look forward to talking to you tomorrow. Take care.
