Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #357
Hey, it’s Teri here. Happy Sunday. Hope you’re having a fantastic weekend. As you know, on Sundays I like to answer questions from the community, and today’s question comes from Lee Raymond, who has a fantastic question.
I received this question through the website and he writes, “I received my first Echo Dot at Christmas, and I love it. Today, I just purchased another Echo Dot and was wondering, when I do the setup, should I set it up on my wife’s account instead of my own? Is it better to keep them both on my account? Are there advantages, disadvantages? Any help would be appreciated. I love your podcast and have you on my flash report. Thanks for any help, Lee”
So there you go. Thanks for those kind words there at the end. To address your question; really, there’s no right answer to this. That’s the bottom line. It’s going to depend on your personal preference.
What I will say is this, if you set up one account for multiple devices, really, it’s going to come back to what you’re able to do with one Amazon account. So if you have your Amazon account paired with, for example, Audible, so that they can read books.
When you go from one device to the other device, that will be seamless. If you have Amazon Music or Spotify Music for that matter, and you don’t have necessarily a family plan, when you go from one device to the other device, they’re going to be playing the same type of music.
So, you know, on the one hand, that’s nice, because it’s going to be seamless across your devices.
If you set up one account for multiple devices, it’s going to come back to what you’re able to do with one Amazon account.

Now, on the other hand, as you and your wife might prefer your own tastes, where you want to have access to your own Amazon accounts individually, for purchasing individually, for listening to audiobooks through Audible individually.
Those are the types of scenarios where you will find that it’s going to be useful to have two separate accounts. So you can each be doing your own thing at that particular time.
Keep in mind that when you are logging into your account on your device, and you go to the other device, then you’re going to be interacting with that device that is now under your wife’s account. So, for me personally, I can tell you in our house, we have all of our devices under one account.
I just find that to be quite convenient for what we’re doing, and it’s really going to come down to your personal preference. So, Lee, I hope that at least gives you a little bit of some guidance, a little bit to think about. This is one of these questions that I’d love to hear the feedback from the community.
So if you’ve got some ideas, you know, let’s start a dialogue on Twitter about this. You can follow me at @DrTeriFisher and just use the hashtag VoiceinCanada, and we can have a dialogue about that on Twitter. Okay? Thanks again for the question, Lee. And, I look forward to chatting with everybody tomorrow.
