Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #210
Well, hello, hope you’re having a great Sunday. As you know, Sundays are days where I particularly like to answer questions from our Alexa in Canada community. Now, I have been doing that at other times as well and I actually want to do that more because I think that’s a way that I can really bring value because simply I know that I’m answering your questions and what’s important to you.
Well, today I noticed that there was some discussion on the community page at AlexainCanada.ca/Community. That’s the community Facebook group and there was a discussion there about whether or not you could use AnyPod, which is a skill, which as far as I’m concerned, is the best skill to play podcasts.
The question was, “Can you use AnyPod to play a podcast on multiple devices at the same time?” And, here’s my understanding of this, of the answer. It’s a great question because that’d be really neat to have it on two devices and you can go back and forth, and you’re listening to the podcast wherever you are.
The problem is, AnyPod is a skill, and there’s no way to enable or run a skill on two different devices at the same time in sync with each other, I mean, theoretically you could go to one device and open AnyPod and go to the second device and open AnyPod and run it that way, but you can’t group things together to play a single skill at the same time simultaneously controlled by one device.
AnyPod is a skill, and there’s no way to enable or run a skill on two different devices at the same time in sync with each other.
That’s very different than creating a group of through the Alexa settings where if you just want to play music streaming from, for example, Spotify or Amazon Music, you can set a group and then you can say, play anywhere, but when it comes to a specific skill, like any pod, that unfortunately is not possible.
The technology is different. So, there’s the answer to the question. I really want to thank those that got involved in this discussion. The question was from Olivia, and Olivia, thanks for asking a really great question and then we had some people jump in into the discussion.
We had Lindsey and Daniel and Gordon, and I appreciate all of your input into this, but, I think we’ve discovered the answer to the question and unfortunately, that’s not available yet, but hopefully, I mean, that’s a great idea.
Hopefully, it does come online in the near future. So, hope that is helpful for you. Enjoy any pod. I’ve got this flash briefing and the Alexa in Canada podcast are actually both on any pod, so you can ask AnyPod to play Alexa in Canada or Voice in Canada, and you can get this information.
So, enjoy, and I’ll talk to you again tomorrow.
