Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #208
Good day everybody. So, I have a question from the Facebook community group, which again, you can find that at AlexainCanada.ca/Community. And, the question is as follows, and this, by the way, this is from Brian, and Brian says he’s wondering about the brief mode, “Is the brief mode in Canada?”
He wrote in the group, “I see it mentioned in the US, but when I follow the instructions, I cannot see a setting for it on my Echo or in the app.
Well, for those of you that don’t know, brief mode is a mode where you can say something to Alexa and then you can follow it up with another command or a statement without Alexa having to acknowledge each one, and without you having to actually say the wake word, “Alexa”, or whatever your wake word is, in between statements.
And, I like the idea. It would save time. It’s more efficient. It just makes for a more natural conversation, but I’m afraid I have a pretty short answer for you, Brian. The answer is no. The brief mode is not yet available in Canada.
At times it was available and I think they were doing some beta testing. Patrick in the group who answered the question said that on his device, it was available for a few days, and then a few days later it was gone. So, anyway, that’s the bottom line.
It would save time. It’s more efficient. It just makes for a more natural conversation.
The bottom line is, unfortunately, the brief mode is not available yet here in Canada. It is available in the states, but as well some people were wondering again how to edit their settings so that their Echo is set up for the United States.
I’ve covered that previously, but just briefly if you go to AlexainCanada.ca/FAQ, I have an FAQ that tells you how to do that if you want to do that.
Just keep in mind that you will lose the Canadian content essentially if you set it up in the states, but of course, you’ll gain the features that are available in the United States. So, there you go.

Listen on your Echo Device! Easy as 1-2-3!
1. Open your Alexa app and click on the Menu button > Settings > Flash Briefing.
2. Click on “Add Content” and search for “Voice in Canada”.
3. Click on “Voice in Canada” and the Enable button.
