Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #315

Hey there, I hope you’re having a fantastic weekend holiday weekend. As you know, tomorrow is New Year’s Eve. So, hope you have some fun plans for that. Today, as you know, on a Sunday, I like to answer questions from the community and they typically come from the Facebook community group. If you’re not a part of that, please feel free to join that. You can access that at AlexainCanada.ca/Community

And today’s question comes from Marlene Shopland. Great question. She says, “We’re taking our daughter on a short holiday and wonder if it is possible to take her Echo or Dot along with her and set it up easily somewhere else, and again, when we get home” She goes on to describe a little bit more about this particular individual and why Alexa is so important to her. But, the answer is, of course, yes.

It’s actually quite simple to do this and I want to give a shout out to the people that did respond to Marlene’s question. Sharon pretty much summed it up, and she said, “I think you can, as long as you can connect to WiFi”

And that’s absolutely correct. The thing is, when you take Alexa with you or you have Alexa in your home, really, the only thing that is required, apart from, of course, your Amazon account, is having a stable and high-speed WiFi connection.

When you take Alexa with you or you have Alexa in your home, really, the only thing that is required, apart from, of course, your Amazon account, is having a stable and high-speed WiFi connection.

Question Can You Travel with Alexa

And, if you’re able to set up Alexa in your home, there’s no reason why you couldn’t take this with you, and in a hotel or in some other location, as long as there’s a WiFi connection that you can access, then you’re set. You’re good to go. You simply have to set up Alexa with the new WiFi network.

Now, of course, in order to do that, you need to be able to access your Alexa account either through your mobile phone or through the computer interface, which you can access at Alexa.Amazon.ca for us Canadians, but that’s pretty much what you do. You go in there and you go into your device settings, you change the WiFi network, you choose a new WiFi network and you are good to go.

So thanks again for the question, Marlene. Thank you for all of you that responded to her in the community group. Sharon and Daniel and Ron and Kay, Kathy, there were a whole bunch of people, so thanks very much for that. Enjoy your day and I look forward to speaking with you tomorrow on New Year’s Eve.
